Abstract:

Recent collaborative work in Peru has led to useful discussions to understand changes in the dry season in the Southwest Amazon (SWA).  Colleagues in Peru have been monitoring changes in the SWA rainfall patterns for multiple decades.  In the past few years, using PSU Office of Global Programs funding, we have developed collaborations with researchers from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and the National Engineering University (UNI) to study the coupled energy, water, and carbon budgets. In this talk, we will share some of these results as well as putting the puzzle pieces together to direct our understanding of the interactions between the atmosphere, canopy, and land surface regions.
