A general meeting of the Campus
Weather Service, which has just entered its 38th year of
existence here at Penn State, is scheduled for Monday, January 11th at 7 PM in 22 Deike. It should be over around
7:30PM.
Attendance is mandatory if you'd like to be a member--note that membership will not carry-over from last semester. All students are encouraged to join. This particular semester promises to be absolutely critical to the future of the organization, so it is especially important for anyone interested in forecasting and/or communication of the weather to be involved. People who are not specifically interested in forecasting or communication should join too! Keep in mind that CWS is a fully student-run organization that lives and dies by student effort, and you get back invaluable professional experience and education about the weather from your peers, particularly when there are plenty of volunteers.
If you cannot come, please e-mail Danielle Knittle at [email protected] before the meeting.
Also, holding with tradition, the radio branch will be selecting shift managers immediately following the general meeting. All experienced members and upperclassmen are highly recommended to stay for this very brief meeting. Seniority for shift managers picking shifts is as follows: winter shift managers, seniors, juniors, sophomores, freshmen. Online sign-ups for spring radio shifts will be set-up shortly thereafter at cws.met.psu.edu/sign-up for both managers and members.

The heads of
the video, newspaper and severe weather branches will hold
meetings for their respective branch later in the
week. The first one of these is the video meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, January 12th at 7 PM in 112 Walker.
Let's start 2010 with the great enthusiasm we had last August!

President, Campus Weather Service
